 You would purchase this item and get the file in your email.  The file will have your embroidery machine file and also have your instructions in it.  Some advice from someone who makes a lot of Kimberbell projects:  Move your embroidery machine file onto a usb stick, to use for your embroidery machine.  For the instructions on how to make the project:  you can print them or keep the instructions pulled up on your computer.  Makeing it easy to zoom up close if you need to see better.
